No coating is impermeable and each coating has a different rate at which it loses it's ability to stave off permeation during it's service life. A proper assessment of a coating's condition can save the end user a considerable amount of time, resources and avoid costly shut downs.
Coating assessment is the process by which an existing coating system's condition is assessed for adequacy of performance and integrity. The approximate remaining service life of the existing coating can also be determined as well as analysis of coating failures.
Assessment examples are as follows:
Condition of existing coating systems and recently applied coating systems
Verification of substrate surface profile and surface preparation
Applied coating thickness measurement and hierarchy of applied coating layers
Coating Adhesion Testing
Steel/section loss measurement via UT measurement
Establishment of coating system failure causes with remedial recommendation
