High Voltage Holiday Detection Of A Coal Fired Energy Plant Circ Water Line
Summarized From Start To Finish
High Voltage Holiday Detection is the process by which the coating is verified to be pinhole and/or through-coating defect free.
The detection unit is grounded to the structure being tested and a wire brush electrode, connected to the unit, is passed over
the coated area.
Areas of through-coating defect allow the electrical current to pass from the wire brush electrode through to the steel substrate.
Identification of through-coating defects complete an electrical circuit and emit a "Jeep" sound from the detection unit.
The sound has earned the holiday detection process the nickname "Jeep Testing" in the industry.
Identified defects are repaired and the installed lining is then deemed to be essentially pinhole free.
